Bethany's Blog
Pastor Mike's daughter, Bethany, (and no, she wasn't named for the church, and the church wasn't named for her ;) )
blogs regularly on living the Christian life and important topics such as trust, obedience, and trials, as well other things
that affect the Christian's life. Below are some especially important topics for Christians.

Is God Your Growth Chart?
"Do you remember the commercial for bleach? Where they have the two socks, and ask pe\ople to pick which one
is whiter? What would happen if the true white sock wasn’t there, though. What if there were five of the almost
white socks? Without the real white one there as a standard, the others would look clean. So it is with us."
God Needs Me
"So many times, we as Christians are tempted to think much of ourselves. And while, yes, we are worth
something to God, and yes, He values and treasures us, and yes, He loves us immensely, we tend to lose
sight of the fact that those things are more often true in spite of who we are, than because of who we are."
Spiritual Highs
"If your spiritual life is dictated by your feelings - wait for it……….. you’re doing it wrong."
Social Network
"Imagine. You go online and type in http://facebook.com and log-in. You see that you have over 20 notifications
and get a little excited. You click to see what they are and your heart stops. God just commented on every single
thing you’ve posted or done in the last week."
Helping or Hurting?
"Geared toward teens, but relavent for adults too, this article I wrote five years ago explains how to help friends
in their relationships with God, specifically when your friend is sturggling with a life-dominating problem."
Religion & Jesus
"It's popular for Christians to bash 'religion.' There's even a popular video going around about it. But it is right?"
Wholehearted Obedience
"I'm often asked, 'what's wrong with smoking?' or 'what's wrong with drinking?' or similar questions regarding
things that most Christians view as grey areas. So where should a Christian stand on smoking or drinking or other
social issues?"
Do you want to be free?
"God can set you free. Question is, do you want to be free? "
Picture Perfect?
"Does your life ever go totally haywire? Do you ever feel like you've got a different puzzle than the cover promised?"
God Owes Me
"We may not come right out and say this, but more often than not, we prove that we believe by the way that we live."
Fear
"Don’t get me wrong, fear is a God-given emotion. But that fact may be part of the reason we Christians don’t
take it seriously as a problem."
Hope
"It's easy to be discouraged in this world, but here's some good news to help you overcome."
And So We Mourn...
"We've all been told to leave the brain and behavior to mental health. That mental health and their psychiatrists
and medicines are the answer to any problem, and the church should just leave everything to the 'professionals.'
Is this true? How should a Christian feel about mental health agencies?"
How Can You Not?
"Amidst tragedy, it's hard to just sit and pray unless we really believe in the power of prayer."
Rapture
"I'm sure you know all about Harold Camping and his rapture prediction. Here's my response."
Sobering Thoughts
"Ever have one of those days when you really don't feel like even getting out of bed?"
